An aftenoon with Taylor
To touch the past and relish the present
In this temple of earth and stone
colors danced and angels sang
simple lines and shapes tell the stories of long ago
Beauty surrounds us in many forms
we gasp to realize it is found in the simple things of everyday desert living...
A day of beauty and appreciation.
I was glad to share it with you. :)

My Mind goes blank
I post more to my family blog because my family is my life. Looking at the blog you would think we were having a never ending party! LOL! We've had many events in the last couple of months, our Traditional song and dance group has been performing a lot, I'm in council meetings and community meetings, traditional ceremony meetings and rehearsals and my June calendar is already splattered with ink of all colors.
The Saquaro cactuses are in bloom and our yearly harvest of Saquaro fruits will be coming up soon and I'm looking forward to retreating into the desert for some R&R O'odham Style...which usually includes hard work...but it's the kind of hard work that you can feel good about and at the end of the day when you hit your pillow, you know that you deserve a good night's rest. Can't wait to open the door of my tent and see the desert as the sun rises and feel the crispness of the morning. Nothing like a cup of coffee brewed over an open campfire!

The Return of.....me!
The night is calm and mildly cool. I spent the better part of the day doing a tazmanian devil impersonation around the homestead. Tomorrow, our family will celebrate HOLY CROSS day up at the beautiful mountain village of Santa Cruz, so there was much to be done and I am hoping that I accomplished it all. My grandmother tells me that this celebration is something she hopes will ring in our memories for years to come. It seems that my grandmother is in fast forward mode...trying to catch up on all the things she didn't teach us while we were young. My brain and my heart are also trying to soak up every detail...and sometimes I get overwhelmed. Last years holy cross celebration was awesome! I am trying not to get bogged down in all the details and the "doing" part of the celebration because that stresses me out. Instead, I choose to focus on the meaning of the day...focusing on the CROSS of Christ and how it changed the world. Here's a few pics from last years celebration...
